Magritte grew up on Citrus Ave in the heart of Los Angeles. Magritte understands glaze as a veil both concealing and revealing an archive of touch and textual information. Currently, Magritte’s work plays with their own textural literacy. Magritte understands the practice of ceramics as an educational poetic tool to witness transitions of liquid and solid states, stillness and movement, and past and present. Magritte is currently working to achieve metaphoric clarity while playing with clear glaze and glaze alternatives. Their work finds itself in the poetic densities and opacities of glaze.
